Ambiance was lovely. Food was incredible. And the service was great. I loved how our food came out as it was prepared. This worked well for our table as we were all sharing. It may be a little odd if you are with a larger party and not planning on sharing. That said. It's all so delicious, I highly recommend ordering everything for the table and digging in as it arrives. Read the story of the owner on the website. Fun to get some background too. Enjoy!
A girl date was in the works for my sister & I, so she recommended this place as she had never been. I checked out the social media page on Instagram & was very impressed! It's a beautiful building with some cute outdoor patio seating but the vibe inside is exquisite. Colorful wallpaper adorns every inch of this place, even the bathrooms! Speaking of bathrooms, I did appreciate that they are not assigned genders, they're for whoever! Our server today was exceptional, we showed her the video we saw on Instagram & she knew exactly what all the included dishes were, so that's what we got! I had the Dual Citizen cocktail which was so carefully crafted, the cilantro flavor was just right! We both shared all dishes pictured & everything was just so yummy! The stand out for us though were the brussel sprouts; perfectly crispy but still soft with a gorgeous peanut sauce. 10/10 would recommend this place for a chill date night or for a girl date with you bestie! I can't wait to go back.
Okay this place was so good that I started taking photos and then forgot because I was so focused on the food! Loved EVERYTHING. The green beans here are amazing, I could probably just order that and be happy. I highly recommend coming in a group and sharing everything. The staff is really friendly and they bring out the food pretty fast. It gets pretty busy so make a reservation. Can't wait to come back!
We had the pleasure of dining at Best Quality Daughter in the Pearl area of San Antonio. This restaurant has been recognized as one of the top 10 places to try by USA Today in 2022, and it's easy to see why. Chef Jennifer Dobbert, a second-generation Chinese American, is a semifinalist for Best Chef: Texas in this year's James Beard Awards. Her passion for Asian-American cuisine shines through in every dish. The restaurant itself is housed in a beautifully refurbished 1904 home, featuring four distinct dining rooms adorned with bright colors, neon, and custom wallpaper depicting San Antonio landmarks. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, making it the perfect setting for our first night in town. We started our meal with several vegan options, including mochi cheddar hush puppies, marinated bamboo, and impossible pot stickers. While we're not typically fans of vegan food, these dishes were an exception. The mochi hush puppies were out of this world, with a crispy exterior giving way to a creamy, cheesy center. Ernie likened them to fried cheese curds, and we both agreed they were delicious. The marinated bamboo was another standout, with its tangy, slightly sour flavor and subtle kick of heat. We appreciated the absence of fiberousness often found in traditional bamboo shoots. The shared plates were equally impressive. The flash-fried salt-and-pepper shrimp was a highlight, with its spicy chiles and scallions adding a burst of flavor to each bite. The Wok Charred Green Beans were perfectly cooked in the wok, with fermented black bean sauce and pickled mustard greens adding depth and complexity to the dish. Finally, the Pork Belly Ssam (Ssam means "wrap" in Korean) was a showstopper, with its tender, caramelized pork belly served with organic bib lettuce, Thai basil, cilantro, scallions, pickled bean sprouts, and a savory sauce made with fish sauce, lime, scallion, and chilies. Throughout the meal, we were impressed by Chef Dobbert's creativity and attention to detail. Each dish was carefully crafted to showcase the best of Asian-American cuisine, with bold flavors and textures that left us wanting more. P.S. Who knows what inspired the name of the restaurant? No googling. My date knew. I had no clue.
Lovely brunch experience at this gem in the Pearl district. Plenty of paid parking available nearby. This restaurant is located in a charmingly decorated pink house. We came for brunch on Sunday with a reservation and were seated right away. The decor inside is bright, floral, and funky making for a fun and inviting atmosphere. We enjoyed the impossible potstickers and mochi cheddar hush puppies. The family-style cashew chicken was also well-prepared and quite tasty. They have a variety of cleverly named cocktails and specials. A unique spot with great service.
Yum yum YUM! My husband and I were visiting town for a weekend and we are SO glad we stoped by Best Quality Daughter! We are still talking about this place to our friends! The restaurant itself is beautiful and well lit, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and I ended up buying a shirt! The food will keep me up at night dreaming of it! We stared with the KOREAN CORN CHEESE SPRING ROLLS, and the dipping sauce was divine! I could have eaten it with a spoon. For entrees we got the CREAMY COCONUT TOM YUM NOODLES and wowwww! I would have licked the bowl! No misses here. I wish we could make the drive here all the time!
Best Quality Daughter is a culinary masterpiece housed in a charming historical home, creating an ambiance that is both unique and inviting. The restaurant's eclectic Asian fusion menu is a delightful adventure for the palate, offering a variety of gluten and dairy-free options that are both considerate and delicious. The entrees are nothing short of amazing, with each dish crafted to perfection, bursting with innovative flavors and fresh ingredients. Their non alcoholic drinks are equally impressive, providing a perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess. For a dining experience that combines historical charm with exceptional food, Heritage Fusion Bistro is an absolute must-visit. The highlight of our meal was the salt and pepper shrimp. The lunch specials are good priced and you get just the right amount of food to fill you up. I will recommend this place to family and friends as much as possible!
I had a coworker from out of town visiting and I wanted him to visit The Pearl area so we decided on @bestqualitydaughter for dinner Tuesday. Happy hour is until 6pm and we made it in time. Dad had the Butterfly Pea Flower Lemonade, I had Nightshades, Hubby had Are you there God? It's me Margarita, and Artie had In the Mood for Love. All the food was served family style so we all shared. Taiwanese Popcorn Fried Chicken, Pork Belly Ssam, Creamy Coconut Tom Yum Noodles, and Cashew Chicken. We tried the Green Beans but it didn't work out. Blake and the management was so kind not to charge us and then gave us complimentary dessert - Mango Sticky Rice ice cream sandwich. The pork belly was my favorite and it was cooked for 12 hours. You can definitely tell the amount of love poured into that dish. Ambiance is all things cute and very in line with the movie's touch and appeal. Like you're walking into a home that is both eclectic and warm. (See pics) Tons of seating, with wait times longer for indoors, while outdoor seating is kept cool in the shade with fans. Creative cocktails, and mocktails. Started with the Young Bamboo Shoots, and then the seasoned string beans, followed by the Curry Guisada Dan Dan Noodles. All pretty good, however, both the veggies and noodles were pretty heavy in the oil...leaving the stomach not feeling the greatest. Flavors are a plus, the heavy oil use not so much.
Sometimes, it's not the menu or the reviews that bring a customer in, but the name of an establishment. That was 100% the case with this visit. I took a short trip with my parents to San Antonio. My dad found Best Quality Daughter on Yelp and we knew that it must make it onto our itinerary since, well, they were with their best quality daughter. Ha! We visited on a Friday mid-afternoon and avoided both the lunch and dinner rush-no problem getting a table at all. Our service was outstanding, both from the person who seated us and then from our server directly. At first glance, we were a little hesitant about the menu, I won't lie. We tend to lean toward things that are more familiar and this menu was pushing our comfort zone. We ended up ordering a few items and each one was absolutely delicious. The popcorn chicken had some amazing spices, the impossible potstickers were flavorful and presented so nicely. The orange chicken steak was an unusual but pleasant combination of flavors and textures. To top everything off, the ambience is remarkable. I love the wallpaper, the art, the colors...everything. It is odd, eclectic and it just works. I asked about the name and learned that it's a nod to a part in the move The Joy Luck Club and now we are going to have a movie night to continue our experience. :-)
